Xoops

August 29th, 2006 · 1 Comment

I’ve played around with Content Management Systems (CMS) before and read a few forums about which are the best and such like. I’ve taken peoples advice and just installed Xoops for the first time and had set aside an hour or so to configure it and have a play.

Well I had set aside an hour or so. Having installed the core product I’ve now got to install all of the content modules seperately including their essential Protector module. If it’s so essential then why not include it in the program??

Whatever happened to Plug & Play?? This has seriously pissed me off. I’d intended to use Xoops on a number of different projects but I don’t think I’ll bother now. Talk about creating a barrier to entry. I’ve got to wade through hundreds of modules to see which ones I want. Download them. Unzip them. Upload them. Install them. Configure them.

Bollocks. I’m off down the pub. Seeya.
