Wet Weekend

May 28th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I don’t know what it’s like where you are but it’s bitterly cold here in London this weekend. It’s about 8 degrees and it’s been raining non-stop for the last three days. I guess this should be expected, what with it being a long holiday weekend here in the UK.

Still, this has given me a chance to catch up on my feed reading as well as making a few changes to the site. You’ll possibly have noticed that the AdSense has disappeared from the sidebar along with the blogroll and that I’m promoting few articles on the front page. This was prompted by recent posts by JohnTP and The Wrong Advices. I’m in the process of replacing it with a list of useful sites which will appear as a static page and I’ll let you know once it’s in place.

I’m also working on a new theme for the site. Following my recent refocus on what Twenty Steps is all about, I felt it was time to make a few cosmetic changes too so I’m putting together a new theme which will still be heavily influenced by the excellent Cutline theme.

I would type more but I can’t feel my fingers any more. Seriously.

I’ve not commented for a while but I’ve been enjoying your blog, and as the weather is similar here (Dorset), I’m also reading through some feeds and thought about commenting.

Wet bank holiday weekends are a bit dull, but I managed to get a game of cricket in on Saturday, so just the two days to fill up it was for me!

Anyway, I think your sidebar is one of the more tidy ones around, helped a bit by the white background, but a lot better than those out there with a couple of side columns that overpower the content. Enjoying your blog so thanks!

Good to see you again although I have to admit to being slightly envious, Rich. Our game got rained off at the weekend so I spent the day kicking my heels and watching it rain at Headingley!

The new sidebar will remain pretty tidy in the new version although their will be a wee bit more scope for targeted ads. I felt the old Google ones didn’t really work and made it all look a bit messy. The new one will be clean and make use of the white space. I loooove white space!
