Welcome Stumblers

December 4th, 2008 · 20 Comments

Just thought I’d break my vow of silence to say a big hello to the 3000+ people who have visited the site in the last couple of days via StumbleUpon. I have no idea why an article written 17 months ago has suddenly become so popular again but it’s a pleasure to see you.

I’m a bit embarrassed I didn’t clean the place up before you came. Nobody told me you were coming otherwise I would have got rid of all the cobwebs and empty beer cans and maybe put out some peanuts and some light refreshments. I’d have definitely written some new bloody blog posts, that’s for sure!

Oh well, in the absence of any new stuff perhaps you’d like to have a mooch through the archives? I’m guessing that you’re looking how to get on the front page of Google so perhaps the SEO section might be of interest? There’s a nice one in there about how I doubled search engine traffic in 5 minutes, some interesting stuff about link building, 10 tips to improve your search engine ranking and a list of search engine friendly directories.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wander around, maybe even subscribe to the RSS feed. Who knows? I might even write a new blog post this side of Christmas :)

Stumbleupon traffic works like that and once one of your pages are in the system, expect future rounds of traffic from Stumbleupon to the same post. It has happened to me time and time again and one of the reasons SU is one of my favorite social networks.

And it’s one of the reasons I love SU as well. I’ve had spikes of traffic in the past from previous posts. I guess this one surprised me because it was quite a hefty increase in traffic and, as far as I can see, no additional comments made on the Stumble so no obvious reason.

Whatever the reason, I’m genuinely pleased to see so many new visitors :)

Well I am very happy to hear that you are getting traffic from SU. I am just working on it as well and I hope I have atleast some success that will be great.

I’ve loved StumbleUpon since I first started using it to discover new sites. It’s been a great source of websites which I’d never have found otherwise.

Best of luck with your endeavours, Farhan. I hope you enjoy your StumbleUpon experience :)

Stumbleupon does just that- help you to “stumble” upon a great site. I did that when I found this one! I just subscribed to your rss feed, so I will probably be stopping back, so don’t let the cobwebs get too thick again!

Well however you found me, glad you did in the end! Hope you enjoyed your stay and will hang around. I’ll try not to leave it as long next time, Nancy 😉

I get TONS of traffic from stumbleUpon… Excellent webmaster tool – but there is a trick to it. You need to have a popular person stumble your site, that’s what brings the big traffic.

I guess I will have to start using stumbleupon, that’s amazing.

  • bloginsane // Jan 20, 2009 at 12:12 pm

Good site, i subscribed to RSS.

  • Mike // Jan 20, 2009 at 12:55 pm

@insideWebmaster – Whilst having someone popular initially Stumble your post can help, it isn’t a guarantee that it will hit the heights. I’ve had some good articles submitted by some well known faces that has never really taken off.

Search engine ranking adds to the success of online marketing. This helps in selecting an appropriate search engine ranking company.

  • Burger // Feb 3, 2009 at 5:01 pm

I also added my site to SU but unfortunately have no any traffic increase :(

  • Mike // Feb 3, 2009 at 5:53 pm

The key is to have content that people want to Stumble and to network on the site. There’s no point in only Stumbling your own posts or to not subscribe to other users. I guess that’s why it’s a social media site 😉

18k visitors as a result of StumbleUpon traffic since I posted this.

Look out next week for a SU post.
