Want to get your website brand seen by movie fans worldwide? Then read on…
You may recall that I mentioned I was involved in a movie last Summer. I wrote a post regarding product placement in relation to paid links and mentioned in a follow up post that a couple of the pivotal scenes in the movie featured a delivery van for a well known UK supermarket as a result of them supplying the on set caterers.
Since I wrote those posts the production company has been working hard on getting the movie ready to release. As is often the case with these things, some of the scenes need to be reshot and they want to add in some extra footage to help in the edit suite so, as a result, I’ll be off to do some more filming next month.
This is where you come in.
We’ve got around 200 extras that need costumes so do you have any branded t-shirts, hoodies, hats, shirts or any other kind of merchandise that we could drop into the movie? I’m thinking it might be tough to drop in a Google fridge but apart from that, anything else goes!
As a bit of background, the film is called Stag Night of the Dead and is a comedy horror in the same vein as Shaun of the Dead. It’s pencilled for a Summer 08 release and your gear will be seen by a worldwide audience as it’s slated for all regions DVD release.
A number of the cast will be familiar to UK readers (credits include Doctor Who, Casualty, The Bill, Casanova’s Last Stand, Doctors, Celebrity Fit Club, Spooks, Time Gentlemen Please) and it’s shaping up to be a really good movie.
I can’t promise a credit in the film but I will work with the production company to ensure that your brand gets some screen time. See update below
Obviously if you want to send some cold, hard cash then we can definitely include you in the end credits. Needless to say, though, that all paid credits will be nofollowed…
So do you have any branded product that would look good on an army of flesh eating zombies? Perhaps you’re a schwag addict with some stuff to spare? Maybe you’re the head of web spam for a large search company and you can lay your hands on some goodies. You might even have boxes of branded stuff lying around that only gets used on a Friday. Are you the epitome of evil so clothing the undead seems like a natural extension of your day job? It could be that you’re the head honcho for the worlds favourite blogging software.
Whoever you are, if you’ve got anything you can spare please drop me a line via the Contact page.
Thanks for your time, folks. I’m off to learn my lines.
UPDATE 11 JAN: I’ve spoken to the production company and they’ve confirmed that anyone sending in their stuff will get some screen time, a credit in the film, a link off the official website once launched and we’ll be shooting a special feature for the DVD extras as a thank you to everyone who contributed.
UPDATE 10 JAN: I decided to change the title of the post and, just out of interest, I went off to find the definition of schwag in the Urban Dictionary. Hmm…it’ll be interesting to see what sort of search terms I get in the next couple of weeks
