Seth Godin speaks the truth

June 21st, 2007 · 4 Comments

Seth Godin is regarded by many as the epitome of web marketing. He has sold countless books on the subject and runs one of the most popular marketing blogs around. I subscribe to his RSS feed in the hope of picking up the occasional golden nugget.

Today he delivered.

But what if there’s just one thing you need to say, but you can say it clearly and well and in a way that hasn’t been said before? What if you’ve got one great blog post inside of you, and, even better, you’re willing to update that post as you learn more and gain more insight?

You want a reason to blog? There it is. Right there. In black and white.

I’ve often updated some of my posts. Many will tell you not to look behind, but the fact is Google will take notice that your content is constantly changing. And that is a good thing.

BTW, I like the new banner. Looks coooooool.

    Wotcha BB :)

Updating your posts is definitely something I try to do. If I write a completely new post then I try to reference back to the old one as well as edit the old one to point to the new. It’s a win-win situation for both the spiders and the readers.

Glad you like the new look.

Seth Gdin has been the epitome. But he did make mistake. Squiddo was too late to respond to spammers and was punished by Google.

Squidoo was one of those things I watched from a distance and never got involved in. Looks like it might have been the right decision although I’ve heard of plenty of people who have made some good money using it.
