Just call me Wilf

April 16th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I’ve just read an article over at Digital Inspiration which really hit home.

You were checking your personal emails at office, then saw a funny video on Youtube, then reached an interesting blog from the Youtube comments, subscribed to that blog, then discovered some unread items in your newsreader, then decided to save some of those posts to your delicious bookmarks, then saw a new Firefox extension to manage your email…. and the loop continues.

According to the article, 2 out of 3 internet users in the UK waste large chunks of their online time to irrelevant web browsing and there is a term for this: wilfing. This is short for “what was I looking for?“.

Are you a Wilf?

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve had a dozen+ tabs active in Firefox and then forgotten why I opened half of them…
