Google Supplemental Index…again

February 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Whilst wading through my feeds, I came across a number of posts about Google’s supplemental index and how to get out of it. Now I’ve covered this before (How to get out of Google’s supplemental results) but I thought it might be of benefit to point you in the direction of a couple of other posts on the subject.

Andy Hagans gives a nice description of what the supplemental index on his article How to: Escape Google’s Supplemental Index. Andy makes some good points about how your linking policy can affect whether or not you end up in “the Siberian work camp for web pages”…

Aaron Wall over at SEO Book also addresses the issue in his article Get Your Blog Out of Google’s Supplemental Result Hell. He looks at duplicate content, links (again) and suggests writing longer articles.

Finally Search Engine Roundtable also address the issue in Google Getting Stricter On The Supplementals? The advice here is to ensure you have unique meta information for all of your pages.
