Introducing The Google Condom

November 10th, 2007 · 26 Comments

According to Andy Beard there’s yet another PageRank update going on at the moment. It seems that Big G are determined to protect their revenue model improve the world by reducing PageRank for any sites that may or may not have been involved in the far more financially beneficial use of alternative revenue generating methods spamming the index.

As a result it is imperative that you ensure that all of your outbound links use the “nofollow” tag. This is also known as a link condom. This will prevent your average Joe from making more money from AdSense alternatives the Google index from being polluted by renegade entries and ensure that Google continue their plans for world domination…mwhahaha… return relevant search results.

Google want you to wear a condom

It would be funnier if it were not so pathetically true. Looks like time for a visit to the drug store.

Imagine my surprise to find I got dropped to a 2 from 3. And I wasn’t even a member of text link ads haha. Time for a Yahoo pagerank maybe lol.

lol now why didn’t I think of that for my article!
Nice design and as some one said while wiping the tears away the irony sort of hits

Boo boo and boo! I cant say for cerain, but since my toolbar penalty ive recently seen a fall off in serp positions for previously good keyword positions as well as indexing frequency. Related? Who knows.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely anybody?

Soon some black hatter will soon find a work around. It’s a cat and mouse game some of my blogs PR went up others down. I am not sure that Google can do everything they way. Text Link Ads might have something up their sleeve but I am sure they will keep it secret.

  • Mike // Nov 11, 2007 at 2:28 pm

Giftedwon – I think Google have blocked the IP addresses of all the major PR checking sites which is why none of them are working.

Rob – That is seriously bad news and that’s the first I’ve heard that SERPs have been affected too. I’ve been monitoring some of mine on other sites that got slapped and not noticed any changes so I guess I’ll need to keep ‘em peeled, as Shaw Taylor used to say.

David – The vast majority of paid links slip under the radar anyway. I hope TLA do have something in the pipeline. It’s just a shame they’re not giving anything away at the moment.

The folks at QOT have just had their PR reinstated after submitting a request to Google. How ironic that the ad being served by AdSense is for Text Link Ads.

    Google? Double standards? Surely not…

Sounds a lot like black hole SEO. Read more about it at Eli’s blog, BlueHatSEO.

I see you have left your links dofollow after over 1 year. Grats.

Yes I have and, as a result, I reserve the right to edit anchor text to fit in with the site comment policy :)
