Benefits of Blogger – Update

August 21st, 2006 · 2 Comments

You might recall my recent post about the benefits of Blogger and how using Google’s own blogging software can give you significant short term advantage for getting page one SERPS. Well I thought I’d give you a quick update.

It works. Hey – what did you want? A blow by blow description? 😉

OK. Basically I’ve created posts on both my new pet Blogger project and an ongoing blog that I’ve been writing for some time. In both cases I have written about current affairs items using very specific terms or keyphrases and have found myself on page 1 of Google within 2-3 days. The downside is that my AdSense blocks are displaying some weird and wonderful products which nobody is clicking on.

The jury is still out on this one. I can see it is a way of driving traffic to the blog but I don’t know whether or not the mix of articles confuses AdSense to the point where it throws up it’s hands and chucks a PSA at the site. I’m going to keep on tinkering and come back to you.

Hi Mike. The lack of consistency with AdSense drives me up the wall as well. I’ve also noticed Google’s bias towards Blogger blogs.

But doing a site search on a Blogspot hosted blog you will notice the description is the same for each link. It’s enough to make you go hmm.

    Hi BB,

As if I needed further proof, I posted a story on t’other blog on Wednesday about the Mocbot virus and after less than a week it’s currently sitting at #3 in Google above the likes of McAfee, Symantec and a number of the other major anti virus guys.

When you say the site search comes back with the same responses do you mean when entering into Google? If so then that doesn’t happen for me…
