AdSense section targeting

August 15th, 2006 · 2 Comments

A massive thank you to infonote over at the Digital Point Forums for pointing me in the direction of something called section targeting. Basically what it does is highlight which parts of your page you want AdSense to read when it’s deciding which ads to display. You can also chose which parts of your page you want AdSense to ignore.

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! However it has made me realise that I ought to spend some more time looking through the AdSense Help Center (grrr…I hate spelling in American)

In my experiences trying to optimize my Adsense ads, I’ve pretty much determined that any tips you could possibly ever need are provided by Google.

Heatmaps, section targeting, styling … they are all provided by Google. Although I would be interested to see what if any of those “AdSense secret” books really do anything. I doubt it.

I think you’re probably right. I posted on the DP forums earlier today and the resounding response has been to avoid any of the AdSense eBooks like the plague!
