About

My name is Mike Busson and I’m an actor based in London, England.

I’ve been playing around on the Internet since the mid Nineties and put together my first website in 1998. It was for a company I was running at the time and I knew nothing about web design. All I knew was that it was cheaper to do it myself than employ anyone else. The site itself was pretty crap but it got me interested in web design so I taught myself the basics and ended up working for a large multinational as the head of a web development team.

In 2002 I quit to enrol at drama school and since then I’ve combined my acting career with freelance web design work. Most actors I know have another job to help pay the bills and I’m no different. It’s a tough job and you spend most of your working life looking for the next gig so it’s important to find a way of making money to pay the bills.

This is where Twenty Steps comes in.

I started looking at making money online in the late Spring of 2006. I was introduced to the concept by a former business partner who was starting to dabble with affiliate marketing. Very quickly I became hooked on the idea and began researching the industry and looking at ways to make a living off the Internet.

One of my earliest ideas was to try to double a dollar twenty times to make a million. Twenty Steps was originally intended to be a blog about the challenge but the project never really got going and I found myself blogging about all of the other things I was doing to try to make a few dollars.

These days Twenty Steps is all about looking at the various ways you can make money online specifically focusing on blogging, creating profitable websites and how to get the most out of the search engines.

I’m definitely not an internet marketing or search guru. Far from it. I’m just a regular guy looking to make some money online and the idea of this site is that I record and share my experiences along the way.

Subscribe to Twenty Steps to share the ride.
